Krait

Rizzo says this songs is "big". I agree, as it uses big imagery: Garden of Eden, primordial ooze stuff. It goes humanist biblical on your ass, with a little Raising Arizona thrown in.

Which life tends to do too, sometimes. Not a bad way to be here on this planet, really, if you can stay wide-eyed. So far, my eyes are still wi-i-i-de open.

Krait's a happy song, I think, calling children, "the crawling milk-fed", "ids", and asserting their need to be strong in the face of "wasted time" and "naked shame".

The production technique is small-to-big and the sonic vocabulary unrelated to the natural world. A lot of distorted and backwards and run through this or that. But the feel stays organic, which is part of Rizzo's genius.

Love,
Kristin

Very sweeping and cinematic this song.

...like a folky early U2 in places.

I'm looking forward to remixing this as soon as work permits. Sadly, I've been remiss because of an insanely hectic schedule for me and the homonids.

Oh, and I loooove the washed-out drone toward the end.

Another gorgeous song! Every one of these Speedbath songs has a moment or element that takes me by surprise. In a good way.

I've downloaded, and am looking forward to giving it a listen tonight.

I was amused to find that the krait makes an appearance in Rudyard Kipling's "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi", which I'd not read in years:
"[A] tiny voice said: "Be careful. I am Death!" It was Karait, the
dusty brown snakeling that lies for choice on the dusty earth; and his
bite is as dangerous as the cobra's. But he is so small that nobody thinks of him, and so he does the more harm to people".

I'm glad to see you're still humming right along, and it's good to have a little tang (if not quite venom), I think, as one creates.

Love it. Love it all: the music, the flower photographs, the lyrics PDFs. I dropped a little money in the tip jar today.

Kristin,
How do you feel about not only remixing, but adding a vocal track and/or guitar or original instrumentation?

I love what you are doing here. I have been enjoying playing guitar to your music for quite some time, to find your invitation for sharing of music is amazing. Re-inventing intellectual property, collaboration, collective soul musicking....

PS.. any plans to come to SF Bay soon? we miss you...

Thank you for the kind comments you all...

PeteZ - the flowers covers are one of Billy's ideas from way back...we finally got to do what WE wanted with CASH.

Thor - I think WAV stems were way huge and there wasn't much demand for them...so the choice was made in favor of mp3s for the sake of practicality.

Gurdonark - Rikki Tikki Tavi is SO cool. I always wanted a mongoose.

Kestrel - YES! Do it do it.
